Next Event will be
A Social Night
TUESDAY 3rd AUGUST 2010
7.30pm
To get there:-
The Bathpool Inn is situated on the A38 Taunton to Bridgwater road, and is only a short distance from M5 Junction 25. Follow the A38 signs Northbound from J25 (e.g. towards Bridgwater). The Pub is about 800m on the right and has a good Car Park with level tarmac surfacing which is (mostly) lit after dark.
Good Food is available at reasonable prices. Come and eat before you meet! (or while you meet). Attendees before 1900 get the early bird prices! The club night is held in a private function room.
All Members and prospective members are welcome to come along by car or bike.
1) Recent Events:-
1a) The July Ride
The South West July Ride-out
Regrettably, for one reason or another, there were only two volunteers to participate in this ride – the ride leader (Rowland Hibbard), and the prospective “Tail End Charlie” Tim Gore. In the event Alan Buchannan did try to join the ride after the cancellation had gone out. Thanks to Alan for the dedication!
It is not reasonable to expect the ride leader to commit for only two joiners, so this ride will be saved for future (and hopefully), better attended times.
1b) Weston Bike Night 29th July 2010
Brian Stockwell kindly recommended this event at £1.00 per attendee for Charity (British Legion).
Brian was there, together with Fred Campbell and yours truly. Plenty of flash motorcycle’ry on view including a ST1300 trike!
Probably about 500 attendees, so this was a quiet one! Nice sunny evening. I shan’t mention that Brian was on Jenny’s Kwacker Ninga (whoops, sorry – it just slipped out!). Fred brought several friends, including Mark Chichester with his 2.3 litre Triumph Rocket.
2) Forthcoming Events for 2010:-
2a) South West Rides 2010 Summer Programme
The August Ride – 15th August 2010
Brian Stockwell will be leading this ride (which is currently a mystery tour, but focused in part on the Gloucester/ South Cotswolds Area). Brian’s rides are renowned for excellent Tea Stops and for Fish and Chip lunches (but mainly when Jenny is not there to enforce the healthy living regime!)
2b) The remainder of the South West programme is:-
Month Date Ride Leader Destination
August Sunday 15th Brian Stockwell Gloucester Area (Note change of Date!)
September Sunday 26th Colin Heath TBA
October Sunday 10th Roger Carson “The White Horses”
2c) Social Nights
Our Social Nights are normally on each first Tuesday in the month unless otherwise advised.
3) National Pan-Clan Events –
None in prospect, save the International in September, see below.
4) Local Bike Nights and Other Outings
South Central Pan-Clan invite interested parties to the Poole Bike Night on Tuesday 17th August - meet at Ower Services Station in MacDonalds over flow car park (SO51 6GF) at 4pm ready to leave at 4.30pm, or just come to the event when you can.
There is a £1 entry charge per bike for access onto the Quay for bikes only.
Full details of the Bike Nights can be found here;

5) 2010 International in UK
The 2010 International will be in the UK – location at Charnock Richard, near to Preston. There was a verbal request for extra ride leaders (I don’t know whether this has been fulfilled, as no further request has emerged at this time). If it is made again, I thought South West riders might offer to do a specific day and location (so we were all free to ride together on other days, if we so wished).
Further information is now available from the Pan-Clan website – including dates for the event – and now maps in “Garmin” and “Tom-tom” speak.
225 persons have registered so far (120 riders and 100 pillions), currently including Tim Gore; Greg Kelloway; David Parfitt; Peter & Sandra Parfitt; Roland & Sue Hibbard from the South West Area. Just still time to book, if you are so inclined, then get your booking in, and join in the fun! For thise folks signed-up already, don’t forget it is now time to pay! – details on the Pan-Clan main site. (I’ve paid mine!)
6) 2011 International in Belgium
The 2011 event will be held at Houffalize in Belgium (Hotel “Ol Fosse D’Outh”) 25th to 29th August. Details at www.pan-european.be/pg2011
7) Pan-Clan Regalia – And Pan-Clan Badges
South West Windscreen logo stickers with adhesive backing are now available from Tim Gore by request. The cost for these logo stickers is £1.00. If you want one by post, send £1 in stamps, and also a stamped self-addressed A5 envelope.
8) New Members
If there are new members that are coming to the Club Night for the first time, please will you make yourselves known to me when you arrive. (Look out for grey hair and over-weight condition!)
